Weybridge Ladies Amateur Rowing Club
WLARC is run for women by women. Historically the club was left by Amy Gentry in perpetuity to be used to promote women only rowing at a time in the 1920s when women were overlooked in the sport.
We have the advantage of owning our own land, boathouse and equipment.
We encourage every club member to be involved in the management of club affairs and they are given every opportunity to attend training courses.
We are 100% self managed by a small committee elected by members. Our committee is accountable to all of the club members and to our trustees to uphold the ethos of the club. We are a completely privately run organisation.
We have a strong affiliation to British Rowing and make sure we adhere to their regulations regarding safety, the protection of children and vulnerable adults, insurances and management. For example our Junior Coaches and Captain have up to date Disclosure and Barring Service certificates.
The role of Chairperson is to oversee the committee and make sure that the constitution is adhered to and that the committee works democratically, as it should.
