Building on the proud heritage and history of Weybridge Ladies Rowing Club, we are committed to:
Providing every member with the opportunity to engage in rowing, and, for those who wish, to compete at a level that matches their ability and stage of development.
Offering excellent facilities in a safe, supportive, women centric environment. We inspire women across the community to be independent rowers - whether they’re completing beginner courses or advancing to successful racing competitors.
Catering to diverse needs by offering a wide range of opportunities that meet the competitive, recreational, and social interests of our members. We cultivate a team culture based on cooperation, physical fitness, and personal growth supporting women from all walks of life.
Being a volunteer-led club, where members actively contribute to the running of the club and shape its future together.
Founded in 1926 by Amy Gentry OBE, Weybridge Ladies Rowing Club (WLARC) has a long and proud legacy as a pioneer in promoting women’s rowing. Amy played a central role in establishing women’s rowing both in the UK and internationally. In 1927, she competed in the first Women’s Eights Head of the River Race, where the Weybridge Ladies’ boat triumphed. Amy went on to become the British single sculls champion in 1932, 1933, and 1934, retiring undefeated.
Her passion for rowing continues to inspire our club today, and we carry forward her legacy with great pride.

We believe that the right environment and the right people can help you achieve your goals. At WLARC, we foster a culture of empowerment, where women support, inspire, and lift each other up to become independent rowers.
We believe women deserve a supportive, inclusive community dedicated to women's rowing. At WLARC, we accommodate a wide range of rowing ambitions—from those looking to develop (after completing learn-to-row courses), to recreational rowers, to seasoned racers, and women looking to improve their fitness through land-based training.
Whether you're just starting out after learning to row, getting back on the water after a break, or eager to join a competitive racing squad, WLARC is here to help you achieve your goals.
Rowing requires commitment, and at WLARC, we’re motivated by a deep love for the sport and for the women we row with. On cold, dark mornings, it’s the shared dedication to the sport and our team that keeps us going.
We believe that you get out what you put in. At WLARC, we are committed to always striving for improvement—not just in rowing, but in our contributions to the club’s growth and future. Every member plays an active role in shaping the club, and we value their input and engagement in every aspect of our community.
